I would not do VRRP with this network. The reason being : Extending the layer-2 fault domain by creating trunks over which an external overhead of VRRP would make things complicated. We usually use FHRP - HSRP, VRRP, GLBP in case of creating a first hop gateway for servers.I do not have details of various applications and expected flows but the least you can easily create a floating static route on your core switch and achieve redundancy ... Hi David, The support for HSRP is mainly due to queuing not supported on FEX host interfaces prior to 6.2.2 For Cisco NX-OS Release 6.2(2) and later releases,the Cisco Fabric Extenders support Layer 3 protocol adjacencies onhostinterfaces (HIFs)and DSCP to queue mapping.
