The 2900 in the stack where the fiber from the central office comes into began crashing after Marconi switches were installed there. If we switch the fiber to a different 2900, then it crashes. Anyone see this before?

In addition to ip helpler, you may need to enable spanning-tree portfast on each port so the DHCP request does not time out. I have had this happen when DHCP server is across the WAN.
You can reset the switch and enter setup mode again by powering the switch down, hold the mode button while powering on until the first port light goes out. FYI you will lose your current config in the process.Curt
