C9130 AP not acquiring the IP address

abinaya.2.r

Hi all,

We have a setup with 9800-F-K9 WLC and around 23 C9130 Aps registered to the WLC.

Most the APs acquire the IPs through DHCP. But Few APs doesn't fetch the IP address. But just when a console cable is connected to the Aps console port without making changes, immediately they take the IP address.

Whenever there is a reboot of the switches, again these Aps as they get rebooted, will not acquire the IP through DHCP. And we need to just connect the console cable for it to fetch the IP address. This we have noticed for two other sites before.

This situation is weird. Has anyone faced this issue? Can you guide please.

Note: The connection method we follow for all the sites is AP end will have two cables connected to the patch panel (one cable will come from AP's ethernet port to the patch panel and the second cable will come from the AP's console port to the patch panel). We haven't faced any issue with 300+ sites.

What firmware are the APs on?

Does the DHCP server have a virtual IP address?

The APs have got the  firmware from the WLC . It is  Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.06.04

Manually load the AP with a different firmware, say 17.12.4, and see if the behaviour is the same.

For manually loading the firmware, I need to telnet or ssh to the AP.
But the Ap is not taking the IP itself.
If I use a console, then immediately as soon as console cable is connected, the Ap will acquire the IP and register to WLC.

What is switch these AP connect to
