Show Confidence

As an “older” woman in tech, it took me a while to gain confidence in myself.  I have found myself in meetings or tech discussions with a primarily male audience where information that was presented by a male member of the discussion was inaccurate and my correction was dismissed or where it was implied I was stating something that was incorrect.  After many years of not saying anything before I took additional time to research it and find out I was correct, I finally got the confidence to speak up and defend my statements.  I’ve found that men challenging my knowledge has decreased over the years so it is getting better but I encourage you to not let other’s make you question your experience and knowledge and have the confidence to speak up confidently.

Thanks for sharing @Kathy N. - I've heard so many similar stories!

I wasn't confident enough also to speak up for myself until I was 'older' and have 2 daughters. That's when I realized I need to model for them!
