ACI Virtual edge and virtual standard switches

We have a vmware environment with only vSphere virtual standard switches due to licensing limitation and plan to deploy aci with microsegmentation using vm tags using ACI Virtual edge as the VDS of choice.

From the research i’ve done it looks like Virtual Edge integrates with vSphere VDS to provide the benefits. Is this correct? is it possible to have microsegmentation with virtual edge and virtual standard switches only? or is vSphere distributed switch required for microsegmenation with ACI?

@will25u84 Just curious if you have identified a solution for this situation. We have a similar situation, but instead of license restriction, we keep our standard switch for management network. Were you able to use ACI with standard switch or is there no such option. Appreciate your response.

I dont see a problem with your setup using a standard vswitch for
management network and VDS for data network. For VMM integration you will
definitely need the VDS (E+ License). VMM integration provides some cool
features such as reducing manual configuration, microsegmentation, more
visibility in vm environment and more.
