Admin shut of routed sub-interfaces possible?

We have multiple L3OUTs making using of sub-interfaces bound to one physical interface. We're currently not using these sub-interfaces and have therefore performed an admin shut of the parent interface.

It turns out that the 'routed interfaces' and 'encapsulated routed interfaces' are still admin enabled. This is triggering a lot of noise in our Nagios system.

Is there a way to also admin shut the 'encapsulated routed interfaces'? Nor via the GUI, nor via CLI this is possible...

Thanks a lot,

Laurent.

When the parent interface is Admin shut/blacklisted, any sub interfaces should have it's OperState changed to down - but the admin state remains "Up".  Doesn't seem like this is possible today to admin shut a subInt/SVI - even the API rejects modifying the adminState. I can open an enhancement request for, but this would be the first time we've heard the request (meaning it would be low priority).  Can you configure an exception on Nagios to ignore this specific alert? (temp workaround)

I'll discuss this with Eng and see what we come up with.

Stay tuned.

Robert

Hello Robert,

Would you have more information regarding this from the BU?

Thanks and regards,
