Hi @TangoAlfa ,

In ACI, EVPN is used ONLY between data centres in what we call Multi-site ACI

So I'm not sure if your question refers to a single site ACI environment, where ISIS, BGP and MP-BGP (along with COOP) take care of the control plane - you can read more about that in this reply or my blogpost based on that reply - search for Rednectar "ISIS,COOP, BGP and MP-BGP" or if you are asking about Multi-site ACI

If you are asking about the control plane in Muli-site ACI, then VXLAN and MP-BGP EVPN do play a part in the control plane - let me know if this is what you were actually asking about.

Hi Chris,

Yes I just gone through your blogs article. Its Pretty clear. MP-BGP is pre configured in purpose of External route advertisement in single ACI site. I have made one drawing following my understanding can you please confirm my understanding.

Hi @TangoAlfa ,

I'm doing a weekend clean-up and realised I never got back to you on this one (I took a break about that time - probably just put it in my ever-failing "I'll do that later" part of my brain)

What a GREAT diagram. It's brilliant. And I can confirm it is accurate - the only thing I picked up on is probably just a colouring error. I suspect you meant the legend colour that shows RR & External Communication to be green.  The important thing that it shows is that MP-BGP is ONLY needed to redistribute routes learned from the external network by the border leaf to the other leaves.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your appreciation on the diagram. And I am really surprised with your responsibility for such small thread answer that you could ignore easily, I really appreciate this.

Here I make the communication color green instead of red because once the external network successful learned by all leaf and  spine after that if any host from any leaf try to communicate with external network then  the node/leaf no need to communicate with spine.
Or shall I make it same color as red that would be more significant?
Please make me correct if I am wrong.

Sorry @TangoAlfa ,

I made the mistake, There is nothing wrong with the diagram - it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. To me, these two lines appear as different colours. But the bright blue background of the legend makes the top line appear light blue to me, when in fact it IS the same green I was suggestion.

Sorry to cause you confusion.
