Cisco APIC Simulator(VM- not the appliance) - ASAv stuck in init

Hello,

Currently i am preparing a sort of demo of ACI. I am using APIC Simulator(4.2)- VM, not the hardware appliance.

I was able to add my vCenter using the OoB. After that i have uploaded the ASAv device package and try to add it as device in L4-L7. So far so good. Device was added, health of the concrete device is 100%. Fine. The logical device is stuck in:

Device state: init

APIC OoB and ASAv Managament interface are in the same subnet and the connectivity is working fine. Http service was started on ASAv. Credentials are fine(using the same one to SSH to ASAv). I have started the API Inspector and i cannot see any calls when i change something on this policy. Also, there are no faults. No health status as well.

I know it is only a simulator and maybe i am hitting some sort of limitation, but i all cases i will be more than happy if someone can give suggestions/feedback. Maybe i am making something wrong, because Northbound API is working fine... I am able to provision port groups on DVS of the esxi.

Thank you in advance.

I think i found it.

It seems that issue is related to the device package. Fault raised under the L4-L7 device is:

L4-L7 Devices configuration ASAv-Managed for tenant common is invalid.

configIssues (Old: missing-mdev, New: ), configSt (Old: failed-to-apply, New: none)

mdev is the device package.

Looking at L4-L7 Services tab and checking the packages i can see faults again:

Fault delegate: Device Package from CISCO for ASA version 1.3 has stopped and restart count has exceeded maximum attempts

Looking deeper i found the following record:

Device script has restarted

Change Set: lastPid (Old: 29634, New: 29635), lastRestartTime (Old: 2019-10-15T10:13:39.506+00:00, New: 2019-10-15T10:13:39.558+00:00), pid (Old: 29635, New: 29636), restartCnt (Old: 4, New: MaxAttempts)

So for now it seems that the problem is with the device package. I am using the latest ACI Simulator(VM) - 4.1(1k) and it seems that latest device package for ASAv is for Cisco APIC 4.1(1i). Maybe this is the case?

Who knows.

Best regards,

Kaloyan
