Concern about adding POD2 in ACI-MultiPOD

Hello everyone,

i have 2 ACI system in 2 site DC and DR, they are working independently, so i have planning build ACI multipod.

i have a question that if i have create POD 1 is seed ( that mean configuration in DC is remain) whether configure in ACI DR is erase, right ? and TEP of POD2 will receive in POD 1 ?

Hey!

So you have 2 ACI Fabrics and need to merge them into one MultiPod Fabric?

Well, you'll basically need to rebouild the DR Site. I would take 2 Leaves from Site 2, clear them from Endpoints (by moving them to to other Leaves of the DR Site) and then build a small Pod 2 with one Spine and 2 Leaves.

Then move Endpoints back to the 2 Leaves already in Pod 2 and gradually migrate Leaves from the DR Site to Pod 2, until you can finally migrate the Spine.

But at the end of the day, you will basically have to tear down the DR Site in order to migrate it into the exising fabric of the DC Site.

Does that answer everything or do you want to dig more into it?

Hello Julian,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, i want to merge 2 aci from 2 site to MultiPod.
with your suggestion, Would i need to remove configuration in DR site right ? and established ACI multipod with POD 1 is seed

If we mean the same thing, then yes exactly.

I guess you have L3Outs in both Fabrics announcing some networks, if you want to keep the same subnets in the DR Site after it becomes Pod 2, your DR Site will be erased after the change.

But you can gradually move from the DR Site to Pod 2 with the process which I described. But you can also migrate in a Big Bang Scenario, wiping the DR Site and rebuild it as Pod 2.

Pod 1 will be the Seed Site for sure.
