COOP Database and PROXY STATION TABLE

Hi All

Can any one explain in ACI what is the difference between COOP Database and Proxy Station Table and how they are inter relate?

Hi @TangoAlfa ,

You could try reading this as a primer, but really there is no difference between the COOP Database and Proxy Station Table .

You may have also heard of a Local Station Table - but that has nothing to do with the the COOP Database or Proxy Station Table apart from the fact that whenever a leaf learns/updates a new MAC/IP that gets added to the Local Station Table - the leaf also conveys this information to a Spine using the Council Of Oracles Protocol (COOP)

First of all Thanks for your reply even multiple time I read your post and solved my multiple doubt. You write well. I also go through your shared thread link.

Now please correct me if I am wrong

Yes - you've got it.

I guess that the programmers who wrote the database logic thought of it as the COOP Database - because that's where all the information learned from the COOP messages was stored.  But that description doesn't help when trying to explain what that information is used for, so the people who had the job of explaining how the Spine Proxy function worked called it the Global Station Table or the Global Proxy Table or the COOP Proxy ... or some name that focused more on the actual data that was stored there.

And so we ended up with multiple names for the same thing.

BUT - as I said - "I guess" - so I may be completely wrong, but that makes sense to me.

Hi @TangoAlfa,

COOP DB is located on the SPINE switches and it holds the complete list of endpoints. Station tables are present on the leaf switches. Local station table contains locally learnt endpoints and Global station table contains peer-attached endpoints.
