I would like to upgrade a large amount of Cisco 2960 Catalyst Switches, I used APIC-EM to do the Plug n Play deployment. Is it possible to just do a IOS firmware upgrade on the switches using this solution after they have already been deployed? If so, does the APIC-EM solution force and MD-5 check on the switch side before applying the firmware?

Hi there,
In order for the PnP agent to reach out the the APIC-EM controller, it must be in a default factory state. This will mean it has no config. So the only way to upgrade the IOS would be to do deploy it via a Project along with the required running config.
Once a switch has been provisioned you cannot make any further changes to it.
DNAC provides the option you want as part of the lifecycle management.
cheers,
Seb.
