1. Configure a Remote Location (if you haven't already):
Navigate to Admin > Import/Export > Remote Locations
Right click to "Create Remote Location".
Name: Give it an intuitive name e.g. APIC_Bckup
Host Name/IP Address: Enter the hostname or IP address of your remote server.
Protocol: Select the protocol you're using (ftp, scp, sftp).
Remote Path:
Remote Port: 22
User Name: Enter the username for accessing the remote server (if required).
Authentication Type: Use Password/ Use SSH Private Key Files: Enter the password or provide the SSH key (if required).
Management EPG: Specify the directory on the remote server where the backups will be stored.
Save the Remote Location. This defines where the backup will be stored.
2. Create an Export Policy:
Navigate to Admin > Import/Export > Export Policies
Right click to "Create Configuration Export Policy".
Name: Give it an intuitive name (e.g., "Config_Export").
Description: Add a description for clarity.
Format: json/xml
Start Now: Yes/No
Target DN: Select the Remote Location you created in Step 1.
Snapshot: Specify the number of backups to retain. Consider retaining at least 2-3.
Schedule: Set a schedule for the backups (e.g., daily or weekly). For a one-time backup before the move, you can set it to run immediately and then disable the policy afterward.
Export Destination:
Save the Export Policy.
