Why do I need a Route Reflector for MP-BGP EVPN in ACI?

Hi,

pretty simple question: Why do I need a Route Reflector for MP-BGP EVPN in ACI?

I thought that we are using EVPN in ACI Multi-Pod to share Endpoint Information and NOT routes. I thought we use VPNv4 to exchange routes.

If I use EVPN only for Endpoint Information why do I need a route reflector? We don't have any routes here, right?

Hi,

MP-BGP EVPN is used for MPod/MSite - EP information exchange.

MP-BGP VPNv4 is used for external route distribution to compute nodes.

But why do I need a EVPN Route Reflector to exchange EP information. It is just EP Information, no routes. Why do I need a Route Reflector? Doesn't make any sense?!

To avoid full mesh between spines. For a small number of spines, its not that relevant, but for a fabric with 24 Spines (scalability limit), it will be a lot.
