Hi,

My ACE module ACE30-MOD-K9 crashed today, and at the show ver output i see  "last boot reason:  Service "cfgmgr" ".

the curent version we running is Version A5(1.2) [build 3.0(0)A5(1.2).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

After doing some research i found known bug that supposed to be fixed in this version: CSCtu36146

CSCtu36146—The ACE becomes unresponsive due to a configuration manager (Cfgmgr) process failure with the last boot reason: Service "cfgmgr."

The following example system error log messages may appear shortly before the ACE reloads:

MG6509:7:Admin 443001 Critical 24-Oct-2011 08:29:09 System experienced fatal
failure.Service name:cfgmgr(1050) has terminated on receiving signal 11,system will
not be reloaded

MG6509:7:Admin 443001 Critical 24-Oct-2011 08:30:23 System experienced fatal

failure.Service name:cfgmgr(1050) crashed, last core saved, system will not be reloaded

MG6509:7:Admin 199006 Critical 24-Oct-2011 08:30:31 Orderly reload started at Mon Oct
24 13:30:28 2011 by System. Reload reason: Service "cfgmgr"

Workaround: None.

Hi Lior,

I cannot see  those message in show tech and i would suggest verifying if those logs did show up before the crash happened.

I would also suggest opening a TAC for detailed investigation.

Lior,

You could have been impacted either by that bug or other then I would suggest you to get the core dumps as it is shown here:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Application_Control_Engine_%28ACE%29_Troubleshooting_Guide_--_Overview_of_ACE_Troubleshooting#Copying_Core_Dumps

Additionally, the #show tech-support and open the case showing the #show version as well.

Jorge
