Hi
I wondered if anybody has deployed ACNS 5.2 in the wild so to speak yet? I'm planning on doing a major upgrade next month (bout 3 weeks time) and was all set to plan it when I recieved a note from ACNS Software team saying the version of code had issues and I should download another release.
Just wondered if anybody else had been this brave?
Thanks
Mark

What were the contents of the note? I have worked on several CE's running ACNS 5.2

Enclosed is the message, I'm trying to way up the risk of new features vs risk of deploying to a 28 site upgrade, in the past I've wait a minimum of 3 months before making the recommendation to deploy. The message indicates the issues fixed but it also highlights that this a fresh version of code.
Do you mind me asking what kind of features your using, channel's, caching, URL Filtering(SF,WEBSE?), media caching?
Thanks for the feedback,
Our records show that you recently downloaded ACNS 5.2.1b5 from our Cisco download web site. Please be aware that version 5.2.1b5 has now been replaced by version 5.2.1b7 in order to correct the following defects:
CSCeg01463 Cache process crashed for a cached - chunked encoded object
CSCef89549 Cache process crashed when enabling urlfilter n2h2
CSCef96045 Cache Crash - chunked encoded and 3rd party apps
CSCef96948 CE not accepting rules with IP having zeros in host part.
The ACNS product team felt that these defects were serious enough to warrant this replacement.
If you have not already done so, please download ACNS 5.2.1b7 and upgrade your ACNS devices appropriately. Even though you may not be effected by the defects mentioned above, by upgrading you avoid the unfortunate possibility of running into these problems in the future.

Interesting. None of the listed bugs would impact the 5.1 systems I have worked with.
Most of these systems are configured as transparent or nontransparent proxies for http/s, ftp and dns. None of these are using any of he external URL filtering apps (at least in conjunction with the CE).
So ... are there features/bug fixes/performance improvements that you are looking for in 5.2? Otherwise, you should probably reconsider upgrading.

The main reason for the upgrade was Smartfilter version 4, however my gut feel mirrors your thoughts on risk control so I'll wait till the new year when I've had chance to test the code a bit more before risking such a big migration.
Thanks for your input was most appreciated.
