Hi - I wanted to know the use of the alias command on the CSM.
From what i can make out is thet it is used to assign additional IP Addresses to the CSM Sever VLAN.This IP Address can be used by the Real Servers as the default gateway.
Now my question is - both the Active and Standby CSM have the same IP Address ( as configured by using the alias command) on the Server VLAN.So which CSM contols the IP , i.e the traffic from the real server would go to which CSM.
To elaborate, when the real servers would ARP for their default gateway, which CSM would respond back.
Can i use the alias command on the client side also for fault-tolerance and default-gateway redundancy.
Thanks!!!

The alias operates as an hsrp address but to make it work you need an ft group
Router(config-module-csm)# ft group 88 vlan 71
Router(config-slb-ft)#
priority 30
Router(config-slb-ft)#
preempt
Router(config-slb-ft)# exit
can be used on client side also
hereyou will find more info:
