Backend Servers

Hi all,

Being a neophite to CSSs and content switching in general, I'm looking for the best practice to access backend servers. I have two frontend servers on a 11501 bridged over to my internal network. All my rules are set and appear to be working (I'm getting hits on the rules and services). However, I have to connect from the frontend servers to the backend servers to allow a login page to be returned to the client and complete the transactions. This path is required for the whole system to work.

How can I create this path for the frontend servers to connect to the backend WebSphere, database and other servers. Now, here is the twist, they must all be SSL connections. Should all my servers be dual homed? One to the CSS and the other to the internal network for management, backup and update purposes?

Any assistance is most welcomed. Config is attached.

Thanks

The CSS can simply route traffic to the backend server.

Simply make sure there is a path between frontend and backend.

That is, make sure the frontend servers have a static route to reach backend subnet pointing to the CSS.

Nothing special is required, unless you need loadbalancing.

Gilles.
