Assuming I purchase the appropriate licenses, is possible to load the CDN software into a CE-507 that was configured initially with the cache software? If so, how do I go about doing it? If not, why not?

Write licensing@cisco.com and see if they offer that.

The CE-507 can run caching or content engine software. With 4.x code, you can actually run both at the same time.
