Change IP address of operational LD 417

I have an Local Director 417 with one virtual ip and 4 servers served by the virtual ip. The LD 417 is currently operational.

If I change the virtual ip using the command "ip address 10.10.10.3 255.255.255.0", will the command be effective right away ? Is it safe to change the real ip of an LD just by typing the above command. Should I do this from the console or just do it from a telnet session (I can simply telnet to the new ip address when disconnected).

Will it cause any disruption to traffic handled by the virtual ip ? How long is the disruption if any ?

Thanks.

it should be safe to do it just like this.

However, any modification to any device can potentially affect it.

It is therefore common sense to this operation via console [not telnet] and at a time where the traffic is minimum.

Regards,

Gilles.
