Hi,

ne inputs which algo being used in cat4k's "service compress-config"

Cat4k switch doesn?t support disabling of ?service compress-config?. This inherently causes different in ?startup-config? file size copied to some tftp location.

ifs45c-1#copy start tftp:

Address or name of remote host []? 223.255.241.18

Destination filename [ifs45c-1-confg]? aaa

Uncompressed configuration from 1150 bytes to 2525 bytes!! ?

2525 bytes copied in 0.020 secs (126250 bytes/sec)

ifs45c-1#

I am looking for the algorithm that is been used for the same as I need to verify, if file is copied (uncompressed) properly or not. Can you please let me know? Is it specific to the platform used?

Regards,

Deepak.

Deepak,

you're on the wrong forum. We do not cover IOS here.

Moreover, as a Cisco employee you should probably try to get this info internally.

I could locate the config_compress function but it does not clearly say what kind of algorithm is being used. However, I feel like this is just some sort of ZIP function.

I do not know why you want to verify is copied properly. If the 'sho start' command shows a config, this means it was correctly uncompressed.

Gilles.
