Creating Directories on CE 507

I am trying to create a directory on my Content Engine 507 running ACNS ver. 4.2.13. When I try to create a directory either at the root level or in the /local1 directory using mkdir, I get the message "Please use mounted /local* directories"

What does this mean and how do I create the directory?

Try reinstalling the ACNS software. You can get such messages when there is some problem with the ACNS software. There could have been some error during installation which is causing this problem. I guess reinstalling the ACNS should solve this issue. Also when you reinstall use the .bin file for installing the ACNS software and not the .tar file.
