GSS failure detection time

When we select standard mode for the failure detection, the time is typical 60s before the GSS detects that a failure has occured.  Does it mean 60s to be a min. failure detection time?   If the GSS puts the answer resource offline,  how can GSS consider the answer resource to be on line again?

Hello,

On the GUI page where you set the Standard KAL Type, you can click on the Help link in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.  It is context-sensitive help that will bring you right to the section on keepalives.  From there, you'll see:

4.  If you selected the Standard KAL Type, specify the following parameters:

  • In the Response Timeout field, specify the length of time allowed before the GSS re-transmits data to a device that is not responding to a request. The valid entries are 20 to 60 seconds. The default is 20 seconds.
  • In the Minimum Interval field, specify the minimum frequency with which the GSS attempts to schedule TCP keepalives. The valid entries are 40 to 255 seconds. The default is 40 seconds.

After an Answer goes offline, the GSS will continue to perform keepalives on it to verify when it again becomes healthy and hence bring it back online.

Hope this helps,

Sean
