GSS Sync issues

Hi,

I have a GSS at each site serving pri and standby among them. Each site has got pair of CSS boxes providing HA.

The issue is that the GSS boxes are not going for Syncing even though the GSSM-standby is configured with the ip address of its GSSM-primary for its standby operation. NLRI is not an issue here as we had a chance to test it in our test lab by connecting them back-to-back through a router as the boxes were not yet in production.

The gss status on the pri is healthy but the standby shows "runmode = 3" and keeps waiting for some config file for ages. Its boomerang server and couple of other components are missing on the 'gss status' output list.

I could not find any relevant document at CCO to come out of the situation nor with our configs as we got a working version in one of our other GSS pair.

Code version gss-1.1.1.3.1-k9.upg

Got any idea where we are stuck?

thanks

To the best of my knowledge, the issuemay be thatgss is using port 49153 as source port for all the health checking. This is the root cause of the problem

Thanks mmellet I actually found the root-cause and got it sorted out now. Its a a human procedural error! My apologies for not updating this forum.

After you have configured your GSS devices to act as GSSs or GSSMs, you must

activate those devices from the primary GSSM GUI before they receive and

process user requests. The one exception to this rule is the primary GSSM, which

does not need to be activated after initial configuration.

To activate a GSS or a standby GSSM from the primary GSSM GUI:

1. From the primary GSSM GUI, click the Resources tab.

2. Click the Global Site Selectors navigation link. The Global Site Selectors

page appears (Figure 2-2). All active devices are listed with an Online status.

The devices you need to activate are listed with an Inactive status.
