How do I test GSS?

Just set up a pair of GSS 4492's from scratch.

Configured DNS rules w/ domain list, answer groups, and answers according to the config guide on CCO.

When I do a "nslookup" against the GSS for a test entry, I don't get any result.

Hitcount under Monitoring tab is 0...does it mean my nslookup query never made it to the GSS?

Is this supposed to work even before our Sys Admins start deligating the domain to the GSS?

Hi,

While doing NSLOOKUP, use server as GSS IP so that query goes to GSS and see if that resolves to correct ANSWER or not.

thanks but that's what I already did - 10.1.1.158 is the GSS IP when I did the lookup (nslookup test1.stage.admin.gslb 10.1.1.158).

Hi,

In that case it should have worked. May be take a pcap and see if query is reaching the GSS.

Can you also try this:

nslookup

server

domain name.

See if this works?

I'll find a way to do packet capture, but may take a while.

In the mean time, no luck w/ the other way:

Hi,

If the request is going to GSS and answers are fine(not suspended) i think it should work fine.

When you do , show stats dns , domain name, etc , do you get any hits after your query?
