Loadbalancing traffic between CSSs

I have two CSS11501s and want to balance web traffic between the two, therefore both CSSs in an active-active configuration. Having read the online documentation it appears that I will need two routers for this configuration with dedicated connections to each CSS. Our current topology is 6500 which is connected to a CSS that has server farm directly connected.

Looking for some suggestions on how I can achieve this setup without drastically altering the current topology. Is is it possible to have a CSS master and CSS backup with the server farms directly connected to each CSS?

active-active is a nice concept but very difficult to implement.

It is also 99% of the time not required.

I would strongly recommend you not to go this way.

Another and easier solution if you have more than 1 VIP address is to have 1 vip active on one CSS and the other vip active one the second CSS.

You can easily do this by configuring multiplie virtual routers per interface.

Regards,

Gilles.

Is it possible to connect the two CSSs via a Xover cable and directly connect a second server farm to the backup CSS to which the master CSS can also send requests?

Thanks for your advice!
