Hi everyone,

I have a task to do, and I would like to have a help.

My customer need a feature on the CSM module on 6509 Switch, and the version 4.1.1 of CSM was released, and he need to implement feature of SSL on CSM, and to this, The equipment need a IOS Release

12.2(17d)SXB for Supervisor Engine 2.

But we have a Issue. To accomplish this, a upgrade is necessary, from 128/32 Dram/Flash, to 256/64.

I would like to know, which are the corrects steps to make this task, I mean, The memories should be installed on Supervisory or MSFC?

My customer have 2 redundant supervisors, and these upgrade can be made online, or we need to shutdown the switch??

The Switch runs with a native IOS.

Any help, or Cisco Tech Links is welcome.

Regards.

The new memory needs to be installed on the MSFC. 3rd party 512MB parts are more cost effective than Cisco 256MB.

The switch can stay online, and you can upgrade one Supervisor at a time, however, RPR+ failover will fall back to RPR as the configuration / software versions will not match - so you're looking at 2 X two minute outages. See Performing a Fast Software Upgrade below:
