There has to be a better way than this......
I have just spent 3 hours putting a pre-written config on this CSS
I have a CSS 11050 with about 80 or so services running on it and about 50 content rules. The most efficient I have managed to get so far is to create all of the services and then come back and paste the details of them a few at a time. If I tried more than 3 services at a time the buffer would get tied in knots and I would end up with rubbish on the screen. I tried pasting the config into a notepad and editing it with the odd "y" where I knew I had to respond, but it was a waste of time. Oh how I miss IOS where you are not prompted "are you sure?" all the time.
Still 3 hours is a big chunk of anyone's day....
Any boby have a better way of doing it?

the command is simply 'clear running-config'
CSS11503# cle running-config ?
CSS11503# cle running-config

copy-paster has never worked with the CSS.
You should upload the config via FTP into startup-config , then clear running-config and then a copy start run.
Finally, if you do not want the 'yes/np' question when creatinh a service, you need to turn on expert mode with the command 'expert' [normal mode, not config].

Thanks Gilles
I couldn't FTP for political reasons. The CSS is not connected to anything, however I am only allowed to connect my PC to a console port (don't ask, really highly secure environment) so I was stuck with typing it all in.
Incidently what is the command for clearing the running config, I tried "wri e" so I had a clear canvas but that didn't work. At the time I was nowhere near an internet connection.
Thanks
Tim

I have found QVTNET telnet program using the "slow paste" option handy when configuring a CSS.
We have some poltical issues also on some of out CSS's.
Good Luck

Thanks for that, I will look out for QVTNET.

Hi,
Alternatively, if you are using teraterm you can modify the serial port to increase the transmit delay. Something like 50 msec/line should do it.

Hi there,
Im still looking for a solution myself for the telnet problems - very annoying.
The way to get around always being promted though is to type in "expert" at the CSS prompt (not config). Then save_profile to make aure the change is stored.
Hey presto, the CSS doen't think you are a newbie anymore :-)
Hope this helps!
