Hi!
I have some doubts regarding the models WAVE-694 and WAVE-594 (Both running ios v5.0).
I need to set up if necessary:
- Partial preservation of source TCP/IP: the optimized traffic keeps the destination port of the original applications
- No preservation: the optimized traffic uses the IP addresses and port of the WAAS appliance
Kind regards
Miguel

Miquael,
WAAS actvity is transparent to the end points.
The WAE unit will add a TCP option 20 to the TCP SYN handshake.
If optimize is performed, three tcp session are established, client to client WAE, client WAE to server WAE, server WAE to server. The TCP ports are the same for all communications. The client and server TCP session will have normal SEQ/ACK behavior. The WAE to WAE tcp session with jump to a high SEQ number as soon as the tcp handshake is completed. The IP addresses used in these communications are still the IP address of the end point. Some other means is used to direct the packets through the WAE device for optimization... wccp, inline, pbr, etc.
If the WAE devies deem they are not to optimize the traffic, one tcp session is seen between the client and server and WAE makes no changes to the packet.
Thank You,
