Problem booting WAE 674

Hi all

I have had a problem with a disk on a WAE-674 appliance.

I decided to recreate the RAID array using the following procedure.

1/ "disk logical shutdown" and then reboot

2/ run "disk recreate-raid" and wait for array to rebuild. Reboot

3/ run "no disk logical shutdown" and reboot.

I performed step 1 without an issue, but when the appliance came up again, there was no option to run either of the commands in step 2 and 3.

The other bit of information is the appliance cannot see the flash memory, and has the following error

NO-HOSTNAME#sh flash

Your software installation appears to be incomplete.

(could not access /sw/UP-TO-DATE or /swstore/manifest)

Please run 'copy ftp install' to install a new image.

System image on flash:

bs_show_version: Flash device [/dev/sdb] appears not to be usable

exec_show_flash: trouble running /ruby/bin/bs_show_version: (1,1)

I am not sure if I have a hardware or software issue?
I am currently downloading a rescue image for the box, but am worried that the flash doesn't seem accessible.
any ideas appreciated, and would there be any use in locating and reseting the flash memory?
Regards
Michael

Hi Mike,

This is not hardware issue. Please upload image (.bin) file to ftp server and apply following command from WAE CLI.

wae# copy ftp install

wae#reload

This will install the image onto flash drive.

This error message means that the image installation on disk is good but the flash is still holding old image. You have to upgrade flash to new image, too. For some reason, during upgrade process, the flash was not upgraded in this case.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
