I have removed some of the network commands in my bgp router and when re-entered I do not see the whole command ie.

before

bgp 654321

network 10.1.1.1 mask 255.255.255.0

after

bgp 654321

network 10.1.1.1

why is there no mask statement in my command

make sure you have no auto-summary configured on your bgp router.

the command for "no auto summary" is in the configuration.
