Slow ACE web GUI access

Dear Community!

Please help me solving a problem regarding ACE management access. Our ACE web GUI access (not ANM, the own device manager) has become very slow and unresponsive recently (using IE browser). The CLI access and the ACE performance are OK, I think only the HTTP management service is affected. Refer to the exact device parameters below:

ACE-4710-0.5F-K9 appliance

system:    Version A3(2.6)

installed license: ACE-AP-500M-LIC ACE-AP-C-100-LIC ACE-AP-OPT-50-K9

stateful HA using FT group with another identical device at 2 site (#A and #B)

4 user context; each of them active az #A side

average CPU usage ~10-12%

The "show processes" command output shows several httpd process, I think it is not normal :-(

Does anybody have any experience about this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hi Belabacsi,

This would be a tricky one to resolve over the forum. I think a TAC case is warrented to find a rca. We may need to login to the shell to see what process is hogging the CPU. Number of httpd thread you see if normal. infact one can see more. That said, there are few things you can check.

See if there is any debug level logging (or anything above level 4) in any context. This will create this problem. Also check the uptime of the ACE. If its high, then reload would be a good option. If you can send me a show tech from the Admin context then analyzing that can provide more insight.

Hope this helps

cheers

Dear V.K!

Thanks for Your reply and tips! While reading through the ACE software release notes, I found a solution to this problem. See below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/ace_appliances/vA3_x/release/note/RACEA3X.html#wp614176

CSCth24858—After running the Device Manager GUI for more than a few months or a year, it cannot deploy a configuration to the ACE. There is no impact on the ACE load balancing. It continues to work. Workaround: Enter the dm reload command from the ACE CLI to restart the Device Manager.

After issue the command mentioned above, the ACE DM works correctly!

Best Regards,

Belabacsi
