Hi,

Question 1.

I understand that you need to use cross cable to connect LD417 to Cisco switch 2900. What would be the result if you use straight cable ?

Question 2.

What would happen with the following scenario in LD417 ? LD417 port 3 is connected to server A via cross cable. Port 4 is connected to server B via cross cable. Server A and B use the same subnet. Server A and B need to connect to each other (socket). A switch is connected to the LD417 via port 2. Server C is connected to the switch (via straight cable). Server A and C need to connect to each other. Server A and C are in the same subnet.

Thanks in advance.

Answering to your question, if you use a straight cable to connect LD417 to the 2900 switch, this will not work. The cable specifications have to be followed strictly for the devices to communicate. The simple reason being, the difference in signalling pattern used on the cables. For example a straight through cable will use a different signalling pattern when compared to a cross cable. Read the following document for information on the cable specifications.
