Using WAAS Cache

Hi, I have a Cisco WAE 512 appliance at my core site and two remote sites with the ISR WAE Module. I am going to have clients at the remote sites pulling mcafee updates from the core site via the mcafee agent (as oppoesed to connecting to a file share). Am I correct in assuming that once I specify a policy to optimize the ports that Mcafee uses then once the first update has been pulled down from the core site, then all additional requests for the same update will come from the remote WAE?

Cheers

Brian

Brian,

Unless clients are accessing the updates using CIFS (from a file share), additional requests will still traverse the WAN. That being said, they will be compressed, so the impact on WAN bandwidth should be minimal.

Thanks,

Zach

Brilliant, thank you for the reply and the info Zach.

Cheers

Brian
