Hi,
I am planning to deploy a WAAS Central Manager (CM) at my Data Center. Currently, we have 5 sites (1 DC + 4 Branches) in INDIA, where we deployed WAE-7341 and WAE-674 for WAN acceleration. Currently, all these Accelerator boxes are managed by CM located at US.
Now, the plan is to have a CM in INDIA. I have the following questions regarding how to deploy it.
1. While positioning the CM, what are all the parameters we need to consider?
2. How to choose proper WAE platform?
3. Can we deploy Accelerator and CM in the same Box (WAE)?
4. Can you please recommend the positioning of CM based on our existing topology listed here.
5. As a pre-sales point of view, what are all the details we required to design this solution?
Any additional info is appreciated.
Thanks and regards,

Jaganmohan,
1) The CM is generally located at your DC with your DC accelerators either in their subnet or in your management subnet. However, there is no strict guideline for this since the only requirement for the CM to be able to manage the accelerators is to be able to communicate via TCP port 443 in both directions (CM <---> Accelerators), also TCP port 8443 should be open to the CM for the GUI.
2) The sizing of the CM appliances depends on how big your current WAAS network is and how many more accelerators you plan on adding.
The smallest CM you can order is either the vCM-100N (virtual WAAS running on VMware ESX 4.0u1 or later) or the WAVE-274 appliance. They can manage up to 100 and 125 accelerators/waas express devices respectively.
The largest CM device you can have is vCM-2000N (virtual WAAS runningo n VMware ESX 4.0u1 or later) or the WAE-674-8GB appliance. They can both manage 2000 accelerators only or 1600 accelerators and waas express devices.
3) No you can not run CM and Accelerator mode on the same device. These two modes are mutually exclusive.
4) See # 1, there is no hard requirement/ recommendation for the CM placement.
5) I'd suggest you take a look at the sizing tool which will be helpful.

If you have other more detailed questions related to design/ sizing of your specific environment, and you're a Cisco partner and your company meets the requirements for Planning Design and Implementation (PDI) Help Desk entitlement you can open a case directly with PDI, and we can provide more detailed assistance.

Otherwise if you're an end customer I'd suggest you reach out to your local Cisco SE who can assist with this exercise, and can engage PDI resources when necessary.
