Can two WAE's registered to/activated by different CMs optimise traffic between them?
Thanks

David,
In WAAS 4.0 they can perform generic TCP optimization together, but not CIFS acceleration.

Zach

How can this be done, can a WAE be registered with 2 different CM's?

Nick,
The auto-discovery process used by WAAS to find peer devices is not dependent on the Central Manager.

Zach,
If it is not dependant on the CM,which CM will actually control it then?
The scenario we have is 2 Core data centres each with there own Core devices and CM's with multiple Edges. We have an MPLS link from Oz to UK and we want the 2 Core WAE's to optimise traffic. What actually needs toi be enabled for one of them to become an Edge as well?

Nick,
The auto-discovery process marks the connection setup packets, and uses those markings to find peer devices. This is an automatic process that happens regardless of the presence of a CM.

Zach,
So once auto discovery takes place, without a CM managing one of them how do you collect stats etc? The thing I don't understand is that at present the UK core is managed by the UK CM and the Oz one by theirs, surely when they are optimizing traffic between themselves, you must be able to get stats off one of their CM's.Do you have a link to any docs relating to optimization between two core WAE's?

Statistics are available from the individual device CLIs. It's somewhat of a fruitless point though, since we don't support production deployments without a CM.

Zach, when you say generic TCP optimization do you mean DRE, LZ and TFO or just TFO.
Thanks

It can be TFO, DRE and LZ, or any combination.

Thanks Zach, finally, when 4.1 is released and CIFS becomes automated, will that work between WAEs belonging to different MCs.
