With SSL acceleration do I need a content Switch

I have 2 web servers with 3 sites on them. There is no load balancing going on. Each site has 1 IP bound to it. This has been working for quite some time. A new security paper has come out and requires that all Web applications be SSL enabled. We have approximately 700 users on the site continuously 8 hours per day 5 days per week and an additional 750 people who hit this site throughout the day. In conjunction with enabling SSL I want to add an accelerator to offload the encryption. Can this be done without also adding a content switch. From everything I have read this site since there is no backup or load sharing done through IP should not need one, but this is my first venture into the SSL world. Any help would be appreciated...

all sample configs on www.cisco.com show the SSL accelerator coupled with a content switch. However it is not necessary.

The SSL accelerator can be used alone.
