In L2 header how many bits are used for VLAN ID ?

Hi,

this is the bug discussion forum, you should move the question to a LAN forum.

Standard (untagged) Ethernet frames do not carry any VLAN information.

The IEEE 802.1q format has a 12 bit VLAN field, that's where the range 0-4095 comes from.

The Cisco proprietary ISL had a 15 bit VLAN field but ISL has become less important.
