I ran into this issue while trying to bring up a cluster of Cisco Nexus Dashboard nodes. The previous CIMC version 4.2(2a) worked great with the SFP-10G-T-X SFP modules; however, when I upgraded to CIMC version 4.2(3e) the SFP modules showed as disconnected even though they were physically still connected.
I found that by rolling back to 4.2(2a) the VIC 1455 would run at version 5.2(2b) and the SFP-10G-T-X modules worked correctly. I then upgraded the CIMC to version 4.2(3e); however, I chose the "Advanced" option and left the VIC 1455 unchecked. This essentially upgraded all of the other components and left the VIC 1455 running 5.2(2b)
I hope this helps someone out, this was a frustrating find.

Yes, to avoid that bug, if you are doing upgrade from 4.2(2x) to 4.2(3x) you have to hold the old VIC firmware version.
PS. I was the founder of that bug - a few hours wasted for debug the upper layers.
