CSCwd71093 - Problem with booting FMC after upgrading

When upgrading from 7.2.5 to 7.2.7 this bug is also occurring.  I have two TAC cases open prior to finding the error message and this documented bug, so we'll see if I get a response.

Do you have a backup of FMC ?

is this virtual or Physical ?

what is the reason of upgrade ?

if this is virtual - i will build fresh FMC and try to restore and config and re-join FTD as quick fix.

Yes.

Virtual.

Hitting other bugs.

Thanks.  I was debating on doing that if TAC didn't have a fix.  That will probably be easier than getting a response.

Much appreciated.

Matt

Building a fresh 7.2.5 FMC, restoring it, and upgrading it to 7.2.7 failed also.  Building a new 7.2.7 and trying to restore a 7.2.5 config to it will not work as the FMC won't allow it being on different versions.

Adding a serial port the VM prior to upgrading fixed this issue.  That was all.  It's not even in use.  It just wanted to be added.  Just FYI in case this helps someone some day in the future.

Thanks a lot! Faced the same issue with the update FMC KVM (Proxmox) from 7.0.6.2 to 7.2.7. Workaround with Serial port fixed it.

Had the same issue after upgrading to Version 7.4.2 (build 172) running on Proxmox

After reboot it did not boot bot jumped to a login prompt - (none) login:

Never seen this weird login ptompt before, and non of my passwords worked. it did not bring up network either, so i thought it failed booting and gave me some sort of recovery login

Finding this post, I added a serial port to the VM and it booted just fine afterwards.

Absolute legend!

This post should qualify to lifetime Live passes and free beer

Thanx!

Perfect, workaround works well. Thank you.
