does administrative distance can make regulation such as priority routing?

i've 2 static routing

172.185.0.1 255.255.255.255 198.164.1.1 1

172.185.0.1 255.255.255.255 198.164.1.2 2

my question is if static routing with administrative distance 1 off, does it automaticly change to the second route which is the administrative distance is 2?

Hi

When you have 2 static routes with 2 different AD, It will always take the lowest AD.
If your 1st route with AD 1 goes away then the 2nd one with AD 2 Will be installed in your device RIB and traffic will be forwarded using if.

Just to add a remark: if you really want the route to be removed in any case (interface down, next hop not responding, next hop not forwarding any traffic...), I would configure an ipsla (icmp sla) associated with a tracking and attach it to the static route with AD 1. Doing it that way, you ensure you remove the static route automatically when facing an issue.

Thanks
Francesco
