Here I got a configured Catalyst 3850 switch from my client side.

Now am not able to hard reset the switch, when I try to flash it is reloading the old vlans.

I tried both by mode button and the reset button behind the switch.

So anyone who knows this thing to sort out please share your knowledge..

thank you.

Hi

Hardware reset the switch means unpplug the Power cable and plug it again. As switches dont have switch button for turn on and off.

If you are trying to factory reset this switch you need to do like this:

  1. Power down the switch.
  2. Hold the Mode button.
  3. Keep holding the button and apply power.
  4. Keep holding down the Mode button for another 45 seconds and then release.
  5. See if the console goes to ROMMON or not.
  6. If in console, enter this command: SWITCH_IGNORE_STARTUP_CFG=1.
  7. Reload the switch (use the power cable).

From the switch:  prompt, run "boot flash:packages.conf"

I already tried this .

But no result its booting into the old configurations.

Are you doing the step 6?

Step 6 is which makes the switch ignores current config

But, if you final goal is erase the config, just run the command " write erase" and then "reload", dont save config.

after pressing and holding the button for 45 sec the screen appeared like this

im not sure about which mode is this

From the switch:  prompt, run "boot flash:packages.conf"

yeah that changed the switch to factory reset .

thank you.

Great @arjitsabu ! Glad you sorted this out. Now you can have fun!!

Hi @Flavio Miranda

it helped to reset to the old.

but when i restart the switch after saving the configuration , it is not actually saving the configuration.

It is reverting to the previous stage like.

switch>

can you please sort this out..

Hi
