Call Forwarding programmatically via, say, REST API or similar

Hi,

I am a user of the Unified Communications Self Care Portal. As a user, I wish to be able to programmatically (via REST API or similar operating system agnostic mechanism) simply forward all calls to some external number, without logging into the self care portal, and without having to be on the premises to physically use the phone to forward all calls. This must be able to be done programmatically without authentication, as it is a often used workflow, and is a safe mechanism to enable for users.

But, alas, I read at https://community.cisco.com/t5/other-collaboration-subjects/call-forwarding/m-p/59804/highlight/true#M21914 the following:

Call forwarding is controlled by CallManager. There's no way to change where your phone is going to forward via TUI (it's not controlled by Unity). What you can change is the transfer destination when some one dials your extension inside the Unity Auto-Attendant. This can be done through the setup options menu under transfers and greetings.

This is the view from the users standpoint, and is "the" thing they will want to be able to change, programmatically:

Is this even possible in some way that is platform agnostic (note: I need to be able to do this via some REST API or similar that does not require me to install special programs on a Windows machine).

Regards,

bg
