We notice significant performance degrade when routing between vlans on the Cisco SG300-20 switch. The test is a simple wget of a 250MB file. The file transfer rate is erratic, between 1 MB/s to 8 MB/s when it is between vlans. The file transfer rate is between 11 MB/s to 12 MB/s (most are near the 12 MB/s) when it is within the same vlan. The test is being perform from the same workstation, changing IP address as it moves between the vlans for the test. Are there any tuning parameter when change from switch to router mode on the switch. Is this a known issue of routing engine slowing down network throughput?
