Need help regarding DNA term license

Hi,

I have a question about the DNA term license, specifically wireless.

I'm planning to implement a basic WIPS feature on C9800 WLC and APs. (w/o DNAC)

In Cisco's datasheet, the "Basic WIPS" feature is listed in the DNA Essentials license.

Does that mean the feature will cease to function once the subscription is over, or will it continue to work (honor-based)?

Hi

There are two type of DNA licensing which is subscription, as you mention, and perpetual. Based on that, you can conclude that there's not such thing as honor-based as you might see in Nexus. Otherwise, wont be perpetual and subscription. Why ones would buy perpetual if subscription would turn in honor-based ?

There will be no document from Cisco saying "you can use subscription licensing as long as you want, if the subscription period expire all will be fine" . This would be commercially  bad for them.

What you can see on the link below is the advantage of use subscription. And them they list benefits as:

Reduced cost to acquire
Automatic Updates
Reduced infrastructure and service expenses
Security issues
Pricing flexibility

You will not see a warning saying: "Your network will stop working if you opt for Subscription and do not renew it."

But, will not get access to updates and if you call TAC they might refuse to do anything prior to you renew you license.

Long history short, buy a subscription and renew it accordingly or buy perpetual and dont worry about it.
