What free network management software can anyone recommend to replace Cisco Network Assistant?

What are you trying to accomplish? 

CACTI, MRTG/PRTG are some one the favourites but it will require some skills to get it working.

Do you want an NMS to ping/poll a device? 

How about pulling MiBs?

I am looking for a program that I can manage my switches, polling would be nice but managing/programming is what I’m really looking for.
