"Ghost" USB stick connection on a C45

Dear Community,

Not sure if this is the most suitable spot for such a question, but anyway, I hope someone can still help. I didn't manage to find any similar reported bugs on the community.

I'm facing a strange issue with a USB stick connected to a C45 switch (C4507R+E, to be more precise). So when a stick is connected there all is good, it's being recognized and transfers are OK. Sometime after it's been disconnected (not able to tell how long), it still appears as if on the switch (dir usb0: command still displays it). But when you interact with it in some way (whether copy to/from it, delete something etc.) it returns this error:

%Error opening usb0:/ (No such device)

and it becomes clear there's no actual device. Of course it also logs a "%IOSD_INFRA-5-IFS_DEVICE_OIR: Device usb0 removed" message in syslog.

I'm not sure it logs a similar message when you actually physically remove the stick, I have to check that.

Now you can understand that a script that goes through the inventory searching for USB connected sticks, will show false positive results and I'd like to avoid that.

P.S. It's an official Cisco USB flash drive.
