what you obtain will become handy when you design / configure and troubleshoot issues. There is strong drive towards cloud, automation. but all use the same concepts. subnetting, protocols etc. The main difference would be the navigation through GUI.
Again, Exams do tend to test on out dated versions etc due to how long since they were released but when they updated usually they include the latest revision and iteration of the echo system. This is clearly shown when you review the lab equipment for CCIE exams and what versions currently available.
Focus on the foundation and the practical should come naturally through on job / lab training.
