Hi, can anyone explain the role of controller in a CMTS setup? Physically, where are they located (if at all?) and what service do they perform?
I have seen lots of commands in relation to controllers
Thanks

Hi Stephen,
Basically this community is for Japanese users, next time you might want to
try below English Cisco Support Community
https://supportforums.cisco.com/
Which controller are you referring to?
Below kind of stuff?
controller Modular-Cable 1/1/0
modular-host subslot 5/0 controller Modular-Cable 1/1/0
modular-host subslot 5/0
Thanks,
Tomo

Hi Stephen,
In general, the term "controller" means L1 related stuff.
When we use "controller Modular-Cable", it represents each downstream
channel of WB SPA module, and when we use "controller Integrated-Cable",
it represents each downstream channel of integrated LC, like MC2020 or
MC88.
And "show controller" CLI dumps many L1 level infromation(Chip level).
Does this answer your question??
Thanks!
Tomo
