how will CMTS deal with downstream when SAV(source address verification) is enabled

Hi, 

  To prevent Ip spoofing, SAV can ensure the upstream packets are verified which will allow secure host communicate in CMTS.

   I want to know what will CMTS deal with downstream, when SAV is working. Is it consistent with how it deal with upstream?

   I read the Docsis3.0 standard, seems like only upstream is refferenced.
