DevNet Learning Labs: how to report errors?

Hi,

as Netacad Instructor Trainer I want to prepare for the upcoming DevNet course and am looking through the short Learning Labs courses.

Specifically I found an error in the "Networking Basics" module Step 3 (

https://developer.cisco.com/learning/lab/networking-101-the-basics/step/3

), where it says

"Hubs are less efficient than switches, because they do not have an ARP cache and cannot use ARP." T

This is wrong: Switches also do not have an ARP cache but rather a MAC address cache.

In general I would be interested in a way to easily report errors like this: I'd rather be proofreading than having my students learn wrong things...

Can anyone point me to the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Helmut

Hi

You can report errors in the Webex Teams Live Support Chat - https://developer.cisco.com/site/contactus/

I guess the correction should be - Layer 2 switches don't have an ARP cache. Layer 3 switches and routers do have an ARP cache.

Hope this helps

Hi omz,

thanks for the reply.

I wonder, though, how helpful it is to report errors to a live chat? Wouldn't a bug tracking system make more sense?

And regarding the special case: considering that the previous page made an explicit point in differentiating between switches as L2 devices and routers as L3 devices I think throwing L3 switches into the mix at this point would confuse beginners more than necessary. So what is intended here, I think, is state that switches have mac tables and hubs (repeaters) don't.

Greetings,

Helmut

Hi Helmut

I agree .. it may confuse new students with no prior knowledge.

There is tracking ticket system .. you can try raising a request here - https://devnetsupport.cisco.com/hc/en-us/requests

You can ask in the WebEx Teams room for the correct link and how to raise a request ticket.

I am not sure if I was able to raise the request because I had bought a devnet assc. course.

hope this helps
